Profile:

There can be few more dedicated cricketers in India today than Robin Singh. For sheer commitment, determination and fitness, the all rounder from Tamil Nadu has few equals. Sadly, he is one of the cricketers to receive a raw deal from the selectors. Being out in the wilderness for more than seven long and frustrating years is enough to sag anyone's morale, but then Robin has always been made of sterner stuff. He patiently waited for a recall, and while doing so, continued to perform with unwavering consistency around the domestic circuit and in the Lancashire league. After being recalled for the Titan Cup in 1996, the stout hearted cricketer has never looked back. A string of notable performances with the bat and ball has made Robin one of the first choices when it comes to picking the Indian one day side.

A brisk medium pace bowler who hits the deck, Robin is difficult to score off. Moreover, he has a reputation for breaking long partnerships, but he can also be occasionally devastating as his two five wicket hauls will testify. He is very effective in containing the rampaging batsmen in the slog overs. As a batsman, Robin has proved his match winning qualities both in the latter half of the batting order or when he has been sent in as a pinch hitter at No 3. In fact his only century has been scored at this position. As a fielder, Robin been among the best in the land. Prowling in the covers, Robin's anticipation is remarkable as he dives full length and picks and throws with unnering accuracy at the stumps with one action. He has frequently run out well settled batsmen
