Goa Beach patrol Project

Chief minister Digambar Kamat on Friday stated that the government was
committed to retaining the image of Goa as a safe tourist destination
while striving to bring
more tourism related projects to the state to bolster its image and propel
it to achieve the numero uno' status in the tourism sector.
"While there are fears
that the tourism industry would be hit in the wake of terror alert, our
efforts towards safeguarding the lives of the tourists would ensure that
tourists continue to flock to Goa," Kamat said, while speaking after formally
launching the life safety patrol along beaches of Goa' project, managed
by Drishti special response services, at Colva.
Stating that the project
undertaken by the department of tourism will reassure the tourists as regards
their safety in Goa, Kamat said that the project is aimed at saving the
lives of the public who venture into the sea.

The chief minister further
stated that the government would support any tourism-related initiatives
aimed at bolstering the image of Goa.
Earlier, tourism minister
Fransisco (Mickky) Pacheco said that he would strive to get state-of-the-art
tourism-related projects to Goa without the state having to provide funds
and urged the chief minister to provide the necessary support and co-operation
to him in that regard.
Curchorem MLA and chairman
of Goa tourism and development corporation (GTDC) Shyam Satardekar and
chief secretary J P Singh also spoke.
