Conceived as part of 'Responsible Tourism' initiative, the package will be first introduced at the international beach resort of Kovalam near the state capital. 

Tourists coming to the beach resort would be led to the less traveled but more eye-catching hinterlands. 

They could interact with local people and closely watch their livelihood, culture and lifestyle. 

"Meaningful and mutually beneficial tourism is the core aim of VLE packages. Apart from tourists, local people could also make benefit out of it. They can earn money without any investment" a top tourism official said. 

At present, three VLE packages are available at Kovalam, including a full-day and two half-day programmes. 

The journey would start from the Tourist Information Centre, Kovalam and stop at 13 points where guests could experience lifestyle of the local community, he said. 

Though local people are involved, they have nothing to do specially for tourists but to continue with their daily activities. 

Apart from visiting the celebrated tourism spots, tourists would thus get a chance to meet a florist who makes garlands for the nearby Sree Krishna temple or a blacksmith at his workplace or handloom weaving unit as part of the package. 

The journey would end at Vellayani lake banks where the visitors could witness and experience traditional fishing. 

"We are particular in giving training to participants of the initiative. All participants including the community members and guides will be trained on hospitality, environment, etc" the official said. 

The price of the packages starts from Rs 1,000 for half-day tours
 and Rs 2,000 for full-day tours
