'sixteen:nine International Film Festival' is Mumbai's first student organized international film festival. It is an initiative taken by the students of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal's (SVKM's) Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management. 
This festival aims at providing a plethora of opportunities to student film makers from around the globe as well as promoting and encouraging quality cinema. Launched in March 2008, sixteen:nine has already carved a niche for itself with highly acclaimed director Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar inaugurating the festival and the Oscar-nominated actor and director Mr. Aamir Khan giving away the awards. Prominent media personalities such as Mr. Sudhir Mishra, Mr. Ishaan Raina, and Mr. B.P. Singh amongst others have also associated themselves with the festival by conducting seminars for the students regarding the various facets of film making. 

sixteen:nine is scheduled to take place on 12th & 13th of January 2009. This year the festival boasts of more events, more celebrities and more fun. It promises to serve as a perfect day out for all cinema lovers. Alongside the film screenings & seminars, there will be on-venue and off-venue events as well. 

The on-venue events include Actor Hunt, Film Critic, and Ad filmmaking along with a host of other exciting events sure to bring out the creative side of all those present. 

The off-venue events include scriptwriting, background score, story writing, and documentary making amongst others. The participants for off-venue events need not be present on the venue as they can send in their entries via the internet.

During the 2-day long event there will be live web casting of all the on-venue action on our website. 

Though the event itself is going to take place in January '09, the excitement and the buzz has already begun.
