Former 'beauty queen' in sex racket NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old woman, who claimed to have won the Miss Poona beauty contest a few years ago, was arrested on charges of prostitution from Civil Lines on Thursday evening. The accused, Shalini (name changed), was alleged to have struck a deal with a decoy customer for Rs 50,000 when she was nabbed by a crime branch team. Shalini was arrested with another woman, a resident of Paschim Vihar, and two men — Manoj and Vikram — who acted as their pimps. Vikram is said to be a top Mumbai-based pimp. The two women have been released on bail. According to police sources, the woman who claimed to have won the beauty contest charged close to Rs 1 lakh for two hours. When the decoy bargained with her pimps, they agreed to hand her over to him for Rs 50,000 but only for an hour. The other woman, they told the decoy, was also available for Rs 50,000. "One of the women claimed
to have won a beauty contest, but this is yet to be verified. One thing
which is confirmed
They arrived their in a black-colour Accent car. There was apparently a price for even having a look at the women. "Vikram told the decoy that he would allow him to peep into the car only if he paid Rs 2,000 to him. This amount was not refundable," said a police officer. |
