Chopra heads for carnival in Singapore
SINGAPORE : Actress Priyanka Chopra, who was shooting for Goldie Behl’s “Drona” in Namibia, is now all set to take off to Singapore to attend a two-day Carnival starting Oct 20,2007. A slice of India spiced up with Bollywood stars - that's what the public can experience at the Zee Carnival being held at the Singapore Expo. From the upbeat performances to the latest Indian fashion trends, the two-day carnival caters to every taste and fancy. There is even an autograph stage where Bollywood stars and other celebrities would be obliging fans. Organisers are expecting a good response with the large Indian expatriate community living in Singapore. Some of the Bollywood stars who were present at the carnival gave their take on the evolving Indian cinema. "There is so much competition, in terms of what will entertain people, so we have to live up to a lot more than just normal cinema and what it used to be. We have to break boundaries every single time and we have to push the envelope much further with every film that we make," commented Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. With a global audience bigger than Hollywood, Bollywood is set to grow even within India. "You have literally just two percent of the market in India that actually watches films, and we really haven't tapped into the rest because we never had the means to the ends. We never had the theatres but now we have the multiplexes and we have the exhibition halls where our films can be taken way across," said Bollywood actor Zayed Khan. Viewership aside, Indian movie-makers are also taking their filming overseas, including Singapore, which has played host to quite a few productions from the sub-continent.
