Priyanka Chopra sues former secretary
27 Feb, 2007
MUMBAI: Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra on Tuesday registered a case against her former personal secretary Jaju for allegedly threatening her and using abusive language, the police said.
Flouting the rule book, an officer of Oshiwara police station allegedly brought the complaint register out so that actor Priyanka Chopra could sign it from inside her air-conditioned car.

According to sources, Priyanka, along with her secretary Chand Mishra and a bodyguard, had gone to the police station around 1.30 am on Tuesday to file a complaint against Prakash Jaju, her former secretary. The actor allegedly got a phone call from Jaju at 8.30 pm on Monday night, threatening to kill her.

Mishra and the bodyguard went inside the police station, but Priyanka preferred to stay inside her luxury Innova car, said sources. After the complaint was filed, Sub-Inspector Baibhav Patil carried the complaint register out for Priyanka to sign it.

“Such a thing has never happened before. If it is true, then it has been a serious breach of conduct. No one is above law,” said Senior Police Inspector at Oshiwara.

Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Bipin Bihari to DNA, “I have been told that intially Priyanka too had come inside the police station, but went out and sat in her car when curious onlookers started gathering. But in that case, the cops should have dispersed the crowd. Under no situation could the complaint register be taken outside the police station. I have asked the Senior Police Inspector P V Rungutwar to probe the matter and submit me a report".

Priyanka’s secretary first denied that they had gone to the police station to file any complaint.

Jaju, who is suspected to be based in Indore, was arrested in 2004 following a compliant by Chopra alleging that a Chhota Shakeel gang member had threatened her on his instance.

"We have registered the complaint today and cannot say the exact details of the three threatening SMSs sent by Jaju to Priyanka on Monday night," a senior police official attached to the Oshiwara police station in North West Mumbai said.

Jaju who was out on bail in the 2004 case, claims that the actor owes him Rs 1 crore according to the contract signed between the two when Chopra was new to the film industry.

The police are in touch with mobile service providers to verify the veracity of the case and the officer did not rule out action against Jaju either.
